Madison County's
Health Care System
Madison County has access to state-of-the-art,
emergency health care with its helicopter link to Memorial
Mission Hospital in Asheville. The average flight to
Memorial Mission from the pad at A-B Tech's Madison Campus
takes 10 minutes.
In addition, the Madison County
Emergency Medical Service offers ambulance transportation
from all points in the county via its three locations in
Marshall, Hot Springs, and Mars Hill.
A
complement of medical services is available seven days a
week through the non-profit Hot Springs Health Program,
which employs eleven physicians, one dentist, operates four
fully staffed medical centers with pharmacies and a dental
office in Hot Springs. The program also provides home
nursing services and the county's Hospice program.
In addition, Mars Hill and Marshall each are home to
a private dental practice. There is also an optometrist and
a chiropractor in Mars Hill. In terms of care
for the elderly and persons with disabilities, the county is
home to two licensed nursing care facilities and eight rest
homes. A licensed group-home for persons with mild
retardation is located in Hot Springs, and Mars Hill has a
private facility for persons with more severe
disability.
